JOB-READINESS CASE MANAGER
Beautiful Day is a non-profit granola company with a mission to help refugees connect to their community through business, job training, and community education.
As a 10-year-old social venture, we have integrated adult and youth training programs and broad community education initiatives into the daily production and business activities of a gourmet granola and food company. We’re rooted locally in our state with our kitchen, fulfillment center, and offices located in Providence. We have an active, adventurous board of directors, and a diverse team of 8 full-time and 10 part-time staff, plus contractors and interns. We run an e-commerce store, ship products across the country, participate in 7 local farmers’ markets, and deliver to local grocery stores. Most of our employees are former refugees who understand the challenges immigrants face. For more information about our mission, vision, and products, visit our website at www.beautifuldayri.org.
Position Description:
Each year, we work with approximately 75 refugee trainees in our adult and youth programs. Our focus is on those who are motivated to find work but face multiple barriers due to limited English, limited native language literacy, lack of transferable skills, limitations related to age and gender, and confidence issues due to trauma. We are seeking a Case Manager to provide social and practical support primarily to our adult trainees so that they can find and keep permanent employment upon graduation from our programs. We are looking for the right team member who will thrive in a diverse start-up environment that is both collaborative and requires creativity, energy, and resourcefulness.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate wrap-around services related to trainees (DHS and resettlement benefits, childcare, family issues, etc.) and provide direct service related to practical matters (opening a bank account, transportation, working towards citizenship, etc.) as needed.
- Assess each trainee’s employability and work with the training and production team to determine a service plan for each trainee that includes educational and job readiness goals, referrals for outside services, and next steps after they leave Beautiful Day.
- Adapt existing job readiness lessons and facilitate small group workshops on resume making, job search, interviewing preparation, and provide job coaching as needed.
- Maintain records related to trainees’ performance, program services, and other CM/Training activities. Enter trainees’ information and case notes into the Beautiful Day database (Salesforce).
- Maintain meaningful communication with referring partners, advocating for and ensuring trainees’ needs are being met in order for them to succeed in our training program and achieve employment afterward.
- Work with referring agencies to help each trainee access job placement services upon graduation.
- Follow up with trainees after completing training to collect employment data to be entered into Salesforce.
- Help educate our staff, volunteers, referring partners, and other stakeholders about case-management concerns.
- Collaborate with our team to offer training to community/business partners as they develop the cross-cultural skills to successfully employ refugees.
- Collaborate with representatives and attend meetings of local organizations, committees, and other providers related to the employment, case management, education, and training needs of trainees.
Skills and Experience:
- 2-5 years case-management experience. Refugee-related casework or community service a big plus.
- Energized by working in a highly diverse, multi-cultural, and very collaborative environment.
- Comfortable working across language barriers, including with interpreters, digital translation, and phone-translation services. Organized, able to multitask, prioritize, and manage moving parts.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice, refugee resettlement, and/or community- building.
- Integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Experience with strengths-based, trauma informed approach that focuses on people's assets rather than deficits.
- Strong networking skills. Some experience leading/facilitating group trainings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Curious, resourceful, a genuine team player, and not afraid to make some mistakes.
- Facility with technology a plus.
Benefits and Other Details
- Salaried position, estimated at 40-hour/week with a flexible work schedule
